With less than 24 hours before the kick -off of the 2025-26 Premier League season, Newcastle’s superstar, Alexander Isak, is on strike and Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, admitted that even with Hugo Ekitike now in books, his team does not just want to sign at least one more attacker – they need has.
Indeed, after the sales of Darwin Nuñez and Luis Diaz and with the tragic death of Diogo Jota earlier in summer, Liverpool has only three established senior attackers, with other slot options, Rio Ngumoha, 16, and the field environments that could be played out of position.
“I see Hugo mainly as a new number which could also play from the left or with another new one,” said Slot when he was asked about his attack options. “It’s clear with Darwin Gone, Luis Diaz left. Last season, we had five or six options – with Diogo too. We must have one more attacker.”
It has long been clear that the signing of the dream club’s dream would be Isak, and the 25 -year -old Swedish international seems to be at the end of Newcastle, the latest connected journalists of this club describing him as “on strike” while Eddie Howe seems to be more and more resigned when he left.
Before the opening of the Newcastle season against Aston Villa on Saturday, Howe spoke about Isak’s push to leave as a prejudice to the morale of the team and admitted that they “will probably have to find a way without him”.
