Thomas Frank delighted to take Tottenham’s “risk” of employment despite disturbing management history

Thomas Frank is not intrepid by the story of Tottenham of dismissal managers when he is ready to take charge of his first match with the club.

Frank was appointed successor to Angel Postcoglou after the turnover of the Australian despite the guidance of Tottenham to the glory of the Europa League, with a 17th place and 21 premiere defeats leading to its exit.

Postcoglou became the fifth manager to be dismissed by Tottenham during Frank’s previous mandate in Brentford. Having taken over in 2018, Frank led the bees to promoting the championship in 2021 and then stabilized them as an impressive Premier League club.

Mauricio Pocsettino, Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte were also dismissed by Spurs during Frank’s time with their rivals from London.

But the Danish is not discouraged by this disturbing recent story.

Frank told a pre-match press conference before Saturday’s friend with reading: “I like to challenge myself.

“I was so privileged, I have never been dismissed before. It is therefore one of the reasons why I took the work, so I could get a little more risks in my daily life.

“I come to a big club that is precious. We have to play because it’s us. It’s me, it’s the staff, it’s the players, it’s everyone. And we have to do it together.

“So I like ambitions and everything I do, every decision I have made so far, everything is long term.

“It is not a question of surviving a match or a year or 18 months or what is the average, no, it is in the long term.

“I will do everything, every day, to work to bring this club to new heights. It is ambition.

“If I was not ambitious, I did not sit down here. I look forward to it. ”

Asked about the 1-0 victory of the Spurs against Manchester United in the Europa League final, Postcoglou added: “It was positive that they won. They obtained the trophy that this club deserved.

“I hope we can add to that. The first objective is to be able to compete in the four tournaments.

“It must be the ambition that we have built. The 2019 Champions League final was the last season when the club was able to participate in more than one competition.

“We must be able to compete in Europe and in the cups. If you can compete, there is a chance that you can be the top. ”
