“This is the time they pay attention to the numbers” – The Boys Showrunner has a message for fans who want Generation V season 3

Gen V and The Boys creator Eric Kripke has a stern message for fans who want Amazon to greenlight season 3 of Gen V.

“We’re fortunate that we’ve always had a lot of support. We still have to get audiences,” he told The Wrap in a recent interview when asked how management changes at Amazon might affect the series in the future. “It’s very classic, old-fashioned TV stuff, but we need viewers to show up to further justify their presence.”

Kripke then got blunt with the outlet:

“We have a plan for Season 3 of Generation V, and we’re excited about it, but we need enough viewers to watch Season 2 to justify Season 3. Now is the time for them to pay attention to the numbers. So don’t even look a year from now. Turn on Prime. [Video] and watch it now. If enough people watch, we’ll get a season 3. The same goes for season 1 of Vought Rising. We have plans for a season 2, if we can. They have only given us our support and they give us our opportunities. But it’s a business and we also have to keep our promises. So I hope the public will be there.

Last month, Peter Friedlander was named Amazon’s new global head of television after spending 14 years as an executive at Netflix. That said, it seems, as Kripke said, that there are generally the same expectations placed in most, if not all, shows towards Kripke’s work, even with the change in direction. A stable, demonstrable audience will always lead to a green light.

And Kripke really wants that green light – because he definitely has more work to do in the universe of The Boys and Gen V.

“As long as there’s an interesting story to tell and new facets to reveal, I’m in it. Without spoiling anything, I think the post-‘The Boys’ Season 5 universe is such a fascinating universe, there’s a lot to explore,” the showrunner told the outlet. “It’s so much more Wild West in terms of fucking king, anything goes – without giving anything away. And I think it would be great to put the ‘Gen V’ kids in the middle.”

You can repeat it. The fifth season of The Boys is expected to premiere next year, while the second season of Gen V currently airs weekly on Prime.
