They want to be with you everywhere: why Fleetwood Mac is always totally omnipresent | Fleetwood Mac

A The time traveler 50 years ago could be surprised if they were to visit the United Kingdom now – not so much by the echoes of politics, with a besieged Labor government and a large right, but by the prevalence of Fleetwood Mac.

If this seems remarkably similar to the history of the way Fleetwood Mac has recorded rumors, then that is exactly what the producer of the album Ken Caillat thought: he continued the producers of the similarity of the play with his memories, settling out of court earlier this year, although JMI has always denied his play is purely on Fleetwood Mac, regardless of the many parallels.

But stereophonic is only the tip of the iceberg mac which has appeared in recent years. Almost half a century after the rumors are released, Fleetwood Mac is still very large.

It partly depends on the continuous resonance in the history of the album: two couples tear each other apart and commit their band feelings. (It is perhaps not a coincidence that Abba, another group of the 1970s whose troubled relationships were practiced on lush pop, are also indefinitely popular.) But it is also to music: rumors are always like a treat when you play it.

“I think that dreams in particular feel very modern on the sound level,” explains Tamara Lindeman, the Canadian musician who records as a weather station. “The kick / bass / bass bass / bass line naked; the way there are almost no instruments living in the middle of the range, just a voice; short reverberation really tight; super short and compressed drums.”

“It is really modern, and looks like a lot of R&B and hip -hop in a certain way – it is similar in the way this modern music lives these ranges of frequencies. I would also say that the sense of internal rhythm of Stevie Nicks feels so modern – the way in which she drags the rhythm, often a little behind and a little left.

The dreams had a great viral renown after being mimicked by Dogg against the cranberry that swings on Tiktok in 2020, and those who attended Mac de Fleetwood shows during this century noticed a change in the group’s audience. Twenty years ago, their live crowd had mainly aged couples, but when they played what turned out to be their last London shows at the Wembley stadium in 2019, the presence of a large number of young women was surprising.

For Lindeman, this development is not surprising. “Stevie Nicks and Christine Mcvie both wrote incredible successes. In many ways, it was a group led by women – two voices and writers really powerful. For me, the songs of Nicks and Mcvie are the ones that resonate and last – these are the ones you think when you think of Fleetwood Mac, more than Lindsey Buckingham.

Nicks, whose failing relationship with singer / guitarist Buckingham was one of the themes of rumors, has become a particular hero in recent years. “She does this thing of personally and vulnerative writing on her experiences, but with this force that manifests itself anyway – it is completely vulnerable, but it remains difficult, like a superhero of the heart,” says Lindeman.

There are more prosaic reasons for the continuous presence of Fleetwood Mac in culture, including the appetite for the work they posted during the first 20 years of this century. While most veterans superstar groups are starting to ration their appearances over time, Fleetwood Mac has stayed on the road for months, keeping their names alive. Not for them the handful of stadium shows on the main markets: their tour schedules show their desire to work. They have not complicated their message either by publishing new music: the accent was always firmly put on the past.

He paid. Now, two and a half years after the death of Christine Mcvie and the final death of the group (for the moment: the drummer and the founder Mick Fleetwood would be open to a new iteration), Fleetwood Mac are the most trendy elderly of music.
