These California eggs are linked to a salmonella epidemic
Large brown eggs without cage of a small egg farm in the County of San Bernardino are at the center of a salmonella epidemic which made dozens of people in dozens of states, public health officials announced on Thursday.
Country Eggs LLC of Lucerne Valley is studied by the Food and Drug Administration in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after its eggs “Sunshine / Omega-3 Golden Yolk” proved to be contaminated by salmonella.
At least 95 people were infected with Salmonella in 14 states, including California, Hawaii, Nevada, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and New York, according to the CDC.
The possibly contaminated eggs were sold under the Nagatoshi Produce, Misuho, Nijiya Market and Country Eggs brand names.

There have been about 18 hospitalizations reported by illness.
The FDA conducted an investigation into the retraced, where those responsible question the sick patients to identify what food made them sick and where the contaminated foods come from. Based on the reports of the place where the patients bought or ate, the investigation underlined Country Eggs LLC as a common supplier.
The company has agreed to recall the eggs, which are packed in individual retail boxes and have the Nagatoshi Produce, Misuho, Nijiya Markets and Country Eggs brand names.
The products recalled were distributed between June 16 and July 9 in California and Nevada, with the CA 7695 code on the cardboard. The boxes will also have the sales dates from July 1 to September 18.
Eggs have sales dates that extend until September 18 and carry a CA code 7695.
