NEW YORK – – The Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a home circuit in his month’s return to the injured list, Carlos Rodón won his seventh consecutive decision and the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Guardians 3-2 Tuesday evening for their 11th victory in 14 games.
Back from a tense right oblique which made it miss 28 games, Chisholm pulled a quick bullet in the first row of the seats of the center right against Tanner Bibee (4-6) for an advance of 2-1 in seventh round. Six locations later, Anthony Volpe led a sweeper in the left stands, giving the consecutive Homers of the Yankees for the fifth time.
Rodón (8-3) granted a point and five strokes in seven rounds with eight stick withdrawals and a walk. He extended his aimless sequence at 20 rounds and withdrew 17 consecutive strikers entering the seventh, when José Ramírez chose, stole second and came when David Fry bounded a single DJ Lemahieu to the second goal. Rodón runs down to the corners.
Devin Williams, back closer after Luke Weaver has tense the hamstrings, allowed Daniel Schnemann’s Daniel Schnemann’s single to RBI Santana and a single of RBI in the ninth, then withdrew Bo Naylor on a flight for his sixth stop in seven chances.
