Presented as “the happiest place on earth”, Disneyland opened its doors on July 17, 1955, inaugurating the birth of modern theme park industry.
Walt Disney wanted to create a destination where parents and children could have fun together – a clean space that plunged families into an elaborate theme, with attractions inspired by her stories and films.
Despite a strong skepticism on the part of donors and operational challenges in the transformation of 160 acres of orange, Disney promoted the park by appearing in a weekly television program and finally organized a large live opening on ABC.
The entry prices of the opening day were $ 1 for adults and 50 cents for children, with each route as an additional cost, according to Don Munsil de Moussevers.com, which follows the prices of historic tickets. Main Street USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland welcomed guests to discover 20 attractions.
Today, the original park has increased to more than 50 rides, shows and exhibitions. A second park, Disney California Adventure, was added to the station in 2001. With plans for the property to be rezoned to extend its theme park imprint in the coming decades, the company embraces Walt Disney saying that “Disneyland will never be completed.
