Mike White is assembling the cast for HBO’s fourth season. The White Lotus, with Alexander Ludwig (The Earth remains, Vikings) and AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs, Super8) leading the charge.
The duo are the first to be confirmed to star in the French season of the Emmy Award-winning series. However, Deadline previously exclusively revealed that Helena Bonham Carter was in talks for a starring role.
Details regarding the season’s plot and character descriptions are under wraps. All HBO has confirmed is that Season 4 will follow a new group of guests and employees at the White Lotus Hotel for a week.
As we previously reported, production could begin in the spring, although the location in the European country remains a mystery. The Four Season Resorts have been used in previous seasons as stand-ins for the fictional White Lotus Resort. France has options in this area, including the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat and the Hôtel George V in Paris. HBO does not currently have a marketing agreement with the Four Seasons for Season 4.
Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, confirmed last month that casting had begun for the next installment of the HBO murder mystery anthology series created by White.
White is known for assembling a cast of established and emerging talents during the series’ highly acclaimed first three seasons. Season 3 took place in Thailand and starred Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Sam Rockwell, Natasha Rothwell, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Nivola and Patrick Schwarzenegger. The series received 23 Emmy nominations for its third season, including eight acting nominations. Throughout the series’ run, they have been nominated for 66 Emmy Awards with 16 wins.
Season 4 is created, written and directed by Mike White. Executive producers include White, David Bernad and Mark Kamine.
Ludwig is represented by Untitled Entertainment, Gersh and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern. Michalka is represented by United Talent Agency, Amplified and McKuin, Frankel, Whitehead.
