‘The View’ defends Zach Bryan’s words while calling out ICE

The hosts of “The View” defended country artist Zach Bryan Friday morning, after the singer faced backlash over lyrics in his new song that called out ICE.
In Bryan’s song “Bad News”, he sings “ICE is going to burst through your door, trying to build a house that no one builds anymore, but I have a phone. The kids are all scared and alone.” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has since called the song “completely disrespectful,” but the women of “The View” completely disagreed.
“He didn’t say anything offensive about ICE,” said Ana Navarro. “He said ICE was going to come bust your door. We all saw them do that! He said the kids are all scared and alone. We seen that!”
Host Sara Haines agreed, arguing that Bryan’s words were simply observing current events.
“Artists have always sung about the world around us, about what they see,” she said. “He doesn’t take a stand.”
Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out that Bryan is a military veteran himself, which they say means he clearly loves his country. For her part, Farah Griffin was bothered by the fact that Noem forgot this passage and claimed that the words were dangerous for ICE.
“Not a word, according to Sara, of what he says in these lyrics is inciting, denigrating,” she said. “It’s a social commentary on the moment we live in, which is what music has always done.”
