The Vancouver cannucks appointed Adam Fote as 22nd head coach in the history of the franchise.
Farhan Lalji de TSN reports that Fote signed a three -year agreement as part of the promotion.
Fote has been an assistant to the Canucks since January 2023. He was also chief coach of the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL for a season and a half, and spent seven seasons as a defensive coach with the Colorado avalanche.
The 53 -year -old also played a long NHL career, spending 19 seasons with the Nordic Blue Jackets, Avalanche and Columbus.
“Adam is a strong leader, a good teacher and a person who knows what it takes to build a great culture and win an attitude,” said the Director General of Canucks, Patrik Allvin. “His past experiences on the ice have resulted in a style of coaching that corresponds to the objectives and the vision of our organization.
“He has worked extremely hard in recent years, winning the respect and confidence of our players for his strong communication and his simple simple opinion. He knows this group better than anyone we have interviewed and has interior knowledge and an understanding of what it will take to bring us back to the place where we want to be.
Vancouver separated from Rick Tocchet at the end of the season after failing the playoffs with a file of 38-30-14. Tocchet had guided the cannucks to the playoffs during his first full season at the helm in 2023-24, but the team did not succeed this year this year.
