The United States only added 73,000 jobs in July, unemployment at 4.2%

The United States added only 73,000 jobs in July, reflecting continuous reductions in the federal government and uncertainty about commercial policy, while the unemployment rate increased by 4.2%.
There has been employment growth in health care and social assistance, while other categories have remained stable.
The latest figures have been cautious among employers, struggling with the uncertainty of more difficult tariffs and immigration policies.
In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has revised the figures down in previous months, now showing that growth in May was only 19,000, while the hiring of June was only 14,000. All in all, the office reduced its previous estimates for these months by 258,000.
Jobs in movies and sound recordings increased by around 2,500, to 415,300 in July, while the diffusion and content suppliers experienced a slight gain of 300 jobs, at 334,600.
BLS generally revises the figures for previous months, recalling that initial data is an estimate that does not capture the complete image of the labor market.
More to come.
