The twins aim to extend the domination of athletics freely

Kotsay urges his team to remain positive during another long sequence of defeats. The A endured a slip of 11 games last month.
“This game, at this level when you play 162, there is a large part of this mental game,” said Kotsay.
“There is a little physical, of course, but you know that the mental side of the game is difficult when you are not successful. But, I think that for us, the state of mind must be a new opportunity, a new day to go out and start something new.”
Athletics had not announced a launcher leaving for the Tuesday match.
The right-hander Pablo Lopez (4-3, 2.75 ERA) will take the mound for Minnesota after granting four points in five rounds during a 5-0 defeat against the Rays of Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
Lopez launched 95 throws and abandoned two circuits while fighting high temperatures.
“It was extremely trying,” said Lopez. “I knew it was going to be very hot, very sunny, and I tried to prepare for it. … But it’s just nature. Their guy was dealing with the same thing, and he was able to get out of it and push.”
It was an unusually fragile outing for the 29 -year -old Venezuelan, who had not granted more than two points deserved in eight of his nine previous departures this year.
Tyler Soderstrom is 1 for 8 against Lopez, which is 2-0 with a 3.75 MPM in four career starts against athletics.
