Warner BrosThe first trailer of Wuthering Heights by Emerald Fennell is full of desire, sexual tension and even kneading bread.
Fennell, whose promising young woman won her an Oscar with the best original scenario in 2021, also produced the Thriller 2023 Saltburn, which has become viral with scenes involving baths and cemeteries.
She has now turned her attention to the adaptation of the classic novel of 1847 by Emily Brontë, who features Barbie star and producer Margot Robbie, Jacob Elardi de Saltburn and the adolescence star Owen Cooper.
Those who saw Saltburn will not be surprised by some of the artistic choices of Fennell in the short clip, which seems to be more manifest in its eroticism than the Gothic novel of 1847.

The images also suggest deleted sexual desires, the corsets being tightened and persistent from the main characters and the brooding images of the Dales of the Yorkshire.
A story of passion and revenge, the film is based on the original story of destructive and obsessive love between Catherine Earnshaw and the Foundling Heathcliff.
History also explores the question of the class and the relationship between the earnshaws and the Lintons, two rich families of Yorkshire owners.
The Fennell project was the subject of an auction war last year, Netflix would have offered $ 150 million (111 million pounds Sterling) for this, according to Variety.
Finally, the rights were won by Warner Bros, which would have paid $ 80 million (59 million pounds sterling) but with the promise of a cinema and extensive marketing version.
The film was not released before Valentine’s Day next year, but already displayed by making the promotion appeared in the United Kingdom and the United States with the slogan “Drive Me Mad”, which also appears in the trailer.
The music of the film will include original songs from Charli XCX and a score by Anthony Willis.
Warner BrosDuring a promotional tour for another project, actor Jacob Elordi, who also played in Saltburn, told Deadline: “It’s an incredible romance, it’s a real epic, it’s visually beautiful. The script is beautiful, the costumes are incredible.”
“Everyone’s performances-it’s breathtaking,” he added.
There have been reactions on the casting of Elordi like Heathcliff – which is described as having a dark skin in the book.
The casting director, Kharmel Cochrane, defended the decision and told Deadline: “You really don’t need to be precise. It’s just a book. It is not based on real life. It’s all art.”
Warner BrosWuthering Heights has been adapted several times before. In the 1939 version, Heathcliff was played by a white actor, while in the 2011 version, it was played by a black actor.
This was part of the discourse on social networks on the trailer, with others stressing how the erotic burden of the book depends on its lack of sexual contact and the brand of the trailer “50 bun nuances”.
The original book also inspired the song of the same name of Kate Bush, who passed the charts in 1978 when she was only 18 years old.
