The titles of the Drama of the Kashmir Football Club

The Indian streamer Sonyliv is betting big on authentic narration and strategic sports program as it reveals her vast slate of content in 2025, invited by “”, a drama inspired by the training of the first professional football team of Cashmere.
Talk to VarietyDanish Khan, sales manager of Sonyliv and Studio Next, describes the series led by Mahesh Mathai as “a show that fascinates us extremely” and “one of these programs that defines us, as” Scam “or” Rocket Boys “.
“This is the kind of show we want to make. This corresponds so much to our brand philosophy, ”explains Khan. “It is a program on hope and you will see cashmere like never before.”
The series, produced by Jaya Entertainment by Killian Kerwin alongside Oshun Entertainment, features Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in the history of two men who built the first professional football club in the region.
The SonyLIV 2025 slate extends over several languages with 25 original series across Hindi, Telugou, Tamoul, Malayalam and Bengali. The programming in Hindi includes the long -awaited “Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga”, which will be led by Hansal Mehta, continuing to examine the franchise of the biggest cases of financial offense in India.
The other main titles in Hindi include “Maharani”, season 4, which takes the action of Bihar to Delhi while focusing on the next generation taking the front of the stage, and “Freedom at Midnight” season 2, the final season which will explore the integration of cashmere and the division of Punjab and Bengal.
The streamer also doubles content in other languages, with the star in Telugou “Maya Sabha” becoming “the most seen web series in India” with eight million people, according to Khan. After this success, Sonyliv will launch season 2 of “Brinda” with Trisha Krishnan and “Black & White” by director Praveen Sattaru.
Khan underlines that the Sonyliv commission philosophy remains unchanged: “Brain content for high, easy and educated people in India”. He underlines the accent placed by the platform on the content “authenticated, extremely rigorously written” which prioritizes authenticity compared to the renowned cast.
“We generally do not look at the big faces, but we look at the casting that looks like the room,” explains Khan. “We choose subjects that are slightly cerebral in nature.”
Above all, Sonyliv maintains his controlled budgetary approach. “When the show after the show is profitable, the unitary economy works. This gives us enough words to experiment with new concepts, ”explains Khan. “When the budget increases, we will go the safest way, because your chances of experimentation drop.”
The platform is ready for significant expansion, after having gradually moved to 42 countries with a recent launch of the B2C application in the United States after having previously been limited to distribution by Sling due to existing transactions. Khan reveals that the streamer waited for this content slate to start his marketing thrust in North America, which will start on September 15. Sonyliv also looks at an aggressive distribution on the Amazon Prime and Youtube video channels as subscription services outside India.
Sports programming remains a key driver, with the tournament during the Cup of Asian cricket which should offer massive expansion. “Since Sonyliv was relaunched in 2020, we have never had a big cricket tournament,” said Khan. “For the first time, we will have the opportunity to reach out, widen our scope.”
While his rival Jiostar has rights on the first Indian and a few major tournaments last year, Sony won a cricket rights dissemination agreement that extends over eight years with the Asian Cricket Council.
The Sonyliv sports portfolio also includes the UEFA Champions League, the Europa League, the Bundesliga, ATP tennis, the French Open and the Australian Open, alongside bilateral crickets with England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
In uncripted content, “Shark Tank India” is entering his fifth season, which Khan calls “the most profitable singular spectacle of India today” and rents for his “extremely high virality”.
Sonyliv also develops two ip of local reality – one in the comedy / humor space and another wide reality, the comedy show should be launched in the two to three quarters.
For the future, Khan indicates plans to develop in the Marathi and Bengali markets after consolidating current regional operations, the Punjabi identified as a future target.
