How often is Ryder Cup played?
The Ryder Cup is played every two years, alternating between a course in the United States and one in Europe.
What is the format of the Ryder Cup?
The Ryder Cup is a match competition played over a three -day period. The first two days present the players competition in pairs in two different formats – quartet and four balls. The last day includes 12 matches in a single tête-à-tête.
In quartet, players alternate shots. The lowest score wins the hole. If the scores are the same, the hole is governed a tie. In four balls, each golfer plays his own ball. Whoever records the lowest individual score wins the hole. If the two lowest scores are the same, the hole is governed a tie.
In the 12 single heads to head matches, the lowest score wins the hole. If the scores are the same, the hole is governed a tie.
The three days are made up of 28 games in total. Each match is only one point. In case of equality, each team receives half a point. The first team to exceed 14 points in total won the victory. There are no additional holes in the Ryder Cup matches. If the global match ends with a 14-14 equality, the reigning champion of the Ryder Cup retains the trophy.
Does Ryder Cup have money prices?
The Ryder Cup offers no money price. Each of the 12 Golfers of the American team receives $ 500,000 for the competition, with $ 300,000 going to the charity. European players are not compensated.
