Sunderland was very active in the transfer market this summer, and their efforts are expected to continue in the coming weeks. The Black Cats are desperate to fill the gap towards those of the Premier League, and one of their rumor targets would certainly help in this regard.
The 3-0 friendly defeat of the pre-season of last weekend against Hearts shows that more additions are still necessary for the team of Regis Le Bris, in particular in defense. At least one central defender should join the transfer window closing in September, and an option on the table is Bologna’s international Colombia, Jhon Lucumi.
Sunderland Edge closer to the signature of Jhon Lucumi
Lucumi, who has been linked to Tottenham and Liverpool in recent weeks, would be the signature of declaration for Sunderland. And according to Corriere Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the 27 -year -old is tempted by a move to the light stadium.
Lucumi was three years impressive in Bologna, but with less than 12 months remaining on his contract with Serie A, he should leave this summer. Sunderland hopes to take advantage of the situation by signing it on a reduced price agreement, which would be very possible to withdraw.
Sunderland has signed a lot of younger talents from abroad this summer, but the addition of Lucumi – who played 29 times for Colombia – would add an essential experience to Le Bris Squad, alongside the already signed Reinildo Mandava, which signed this month from Atletico Madrid.
It remains to be seen if Sunderland can conclude an agreement for Lucumi, but if this is another impressive signature to accompany Granit Xhaka, which moves to Bayer Leverkusen should end in the next 24 to 48 hours after throwing the northeast on Tuesday.
