The Supreme Court meets to discuss the call of Ghislaine Maxwell and other matters pending

Washington – Judges of the Supreme Court should meet private on Monday to discuss hundreds of calls that have accumulated during their summer recess, including the challenge of Ghislaine Maxwell to his criminal convictions for having recruited and cared for teenage girls for Jeffrey Epstein.
The court only takes a small percentage of calls and will probably announce a list of those he agreed to hear later in the week. Four of the nine judges must vote in favor of a case so that it is taken care of.
A wide range of other cases should also be discussed by judges of what is known as the “long conference”. They include issues such as firearms, the immunity of social media companies and conflicts of vaccine against the COVID-19 era.
On Monday also marks 20 years since John Roberts became a chief judge. The new duration of the Supreme Court of nine months, when the court begins to hear business, officially begins on October 6.
Maxwell’s lawyers say that Epstein has concluded with prosecutors in Florida, in which the lawyer of the time agreed not to continue the potential co-conspirators, should apply to one of the three charges in his case.
The legal question is whether the terms of a so-called non-propulsion agreement only applies in the district where it has also been negotiated or linked federal prosecutors to the national scale. While the agreement with Epstein was concluded in Florida, Maxwell was prosecuted in New York.
The Ministry of Justice urged the Supreme Court not to hear the affair, with the Solicitor General D. John Sauer, noting, among other things, by virtue of internal policies, the American lawyer should have obtained the authorization of the superiors if the agreement was to apply outside his district. There is no evidence that occurred, added Sauer.
The long story of Epstein abuse has raised the headlines this year while the Trump administration, in response to the pressure of some of the own supporters of President Donald Trump, is committed to disclosing new information on the episode.
But the Ministry of Justice and the FBI then declared that there was no “list of customers” of Epstein or evidence that he made famous men sing. The government also said that it is clear that Epstein committed suicide in 2019, pushing the theories of the unfounded conspiracy suggesting that he was killed.
This has caused a conspiration against treatment with the Trump administration of the problem, including Trump supporters. Trump himself was friendly with Epstein for many years before the two were made. The American lawyer who supervised the agreement on the non-ownership with Epstein was Alex Acosta, who was secretary to the work of Trump’s first mandate.
Deputy Prosecutor General Todd Blanche, who was previously a personal lawyer for Trump, met this summer for hours in a meeting that, at the time, was wrapped in secrets.
Maxwell was then moved from a low -security prison in Florida to a minimum security prison camp in Texas. The prison office did not explain why it had been transferred.
The Ministry of Justice then published a complete transcription and an audio of the Blanche interview with Maxwell.
Maxwell was sentenced in 2022 to three counts concerning his role in Epstein aid in the recruitment and preparation of his victims, some of whom were as young as 14 years. She would befriend the victims, then would help transport them to Epstein residences. It was also sometimes present when the abuses took place, the prosecutors said.
Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
