Last week, Leeds finalized the departure of Mateo Joseph, who joined the Liga Side Mallorca on a loan of a season. The 21 -year -old had been strongly linked to the distance from Elland Road throughout the summer, and a return to his native Spain was finally completed.
Joseph made his debut for Mallorca during the weekend during his 3-0 defeat against Barcelona, as a half-time replacement. And although this is a difficult first match for him in Spanish football, he appreciates life in the nation of his birth.
Mateo Joseph opens onto the unfortunate in Leeds
In an interview with The Athletic (via Leedsunited.news), Joseph has revealed that he has much more fun in Mallorca compared to his last two years in Elland Road.
“Here (in Mallorca), they gave me the feeling of being very close, very honest, people who trust me. I am very happy with the confidence they have in me. My parents are very happy.
“The last two years have been very difficult. My parents noticed that I did not like football at the club level. Now they tell me that they see me differently, they see me smiling, more excited. They are very happy. “
Although Joseph is still under contract with Leeds, there is every chance that he has already played his last match for the club. It would not be surprising to see him leave permanently in 2026, whether to stay in Mallorca or another club – probably at La Liga. Anyway, his comments could make him more difficult to come back.
