The story behind the non -good, horrible, very bad day of the North Carolina The Democrats had – Redstate

As my colleague Ward Clark reported earlier, it was a big day for the general assembly controlled by the Republicans in North Carolina, with the Chamber and the Senate which oversees the veto of the Democratic Governor Josh Stein of HB 805, a bill which, among other things, codifies the definition of man and man in law.

What is particularly interesting here is that, unlike the Senate, which has a supermajority to the TOF test, the Chamber is a short voting graceful of the 2024 elections. But a Democrat in the Chamber, the Nasif Majeed representative, voted with the Republicans to prevail over the veto, saying later: “I had moral problems on this subject and I had to rely on my values.”

Unfortunately for the Democrats of the Chamber and the Senate, seven others of the 14 Stein Vetos were replaced on Tuesday (the other six will probably be tried at a later time) with the help of some of their democratic colleagues, including one which allows private teachers to be armed and another who calls for better cooperation between the offices and the ice of the sheriffs:

The GOP has succeeded in a replacement linked to firearms. The 193 chamber bill is now in law, allowing private schools to allow teachers, parents or volunteers to transport weapons on campus and operate essentially as security guards.

[…]

Bill 318 of the Chamber is now in law and obliges the local sheriff offices to cooperate more closely with the mass expulsion effort of the federal government. The bill also requires that the sheriffs have illegal immigrants accused up to 48 hours after being normally released – a measure said that Stein is unconstitutional.

The lonely democrat who voted to prevail over the veto of HB 318, the representative Carla Cunningham, went to a speech on the ground of the room, at certain times resembling a pro-flying republican in the process.

This led the members of the gallery to try to close it, and at least a Democrat in the Chamber, Deb Butler, tried to do the same. But the president of the Destiny Hall (R) room paved the way in Cunningham:

Read extracts from his speech below (he lasted about six minutes):

Full speech can be read here.

As you would expect, some of his colleagues already insinuate that Cunningham is racist, but she is used to it, having voted with the Republicans on illegal bills linked to immigration before.

Overall, it was normal for the North Carolina Democrats on the whole who, this time, have their colleagues – and not the Republicans – to blame for having lost. Again:

Bless their hearts.
