The state of Tarleton falls to the UTEP in a hard battle disputed Thursday evening

Stephenville, Texas – Women’s football from Tarleton’s state fell to UTEP 0-1 in a hard battle disputed Thursday evening at Field University after a weather delay stopped the match.
The initial kick -off for the Texans and the miners was delayed by almost two hours due to the bad weather, pushing the start time to about 10 p.m., the Texans fought fiercely during the 90 minutes but could not go out in the lead.
With 31 minutes to play in the first half, goalkeeper Emma Barnes Managed the first backup for the Texans, using his body to go in front of a UTEP defender and block a shot just outside the goal area.
In the 20th minute of the match, the ball was passed on the right side of the box to Reegan WaggWho immediately turned and pulled towards the goal, but he ended up being too high.
Towards the end of the first half, Barnes went in the air to obtain a major backup for the Texans of a restart ball which was led by one of the minors.
Utep put the only score on the board with 20 minutes to play in the match, heading in a kick from the left corner of the field.
During his third consecutive appearance, Barnes set a new personal record during his Tarleton state career with nine stops and 18 shots faced. The Texans totaled five shots compared to the 18 UTEP shots, and Reegan Wagg led the team with its two shots to the goal.
The state of Tarleton will return home this weekend to start their five game houses, starting with Incarnate Word on Sunday August 31 at 1 p.m. at the Tarleton State Soccer Complex.
