The star of “ lanterns ” reveals that he drops more fs f in the series than ever before [Exclusive]

James Gunn A new DC universe takes shape quickly, and while all eyes are on Superman As Launchpad for this ambitious restart, Lanterns becomes quietly just as crucial. The original series HBO Max is the first live show in the DCU restarted and aims to reintroduce the mythology of the green lantern in a founded serial format. And now, straight out of San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Lanterns just dropped new information – but during Steve Weintraubthe conversation with the star and the showrunner of Recruit.

Nathan Fillion is everywhere in the DCU – literally. After making his debut as Guy Gardner SupermanHe will come back in Peacemaker Season 2 and later occupies the front of the stage LanternsThe mystery series which promises to be one of the most unique projects in Gunn’s Slate. And if you think the green lanterns cannot swear, you are on a surprise.

Fillion joined RecruitShowrunner, Alexi Hawleyto tease Lanternsconfirming that his point of view on the iconic green lantern is – in his own words – a lot. “There is a curse. So when I went and I did it Recruit For Alexi, my character cursed a lot, and I thought it was very liberating. It’s very nice. I thought, “Oh, my God, I dropped some F bombs and I said bad words here. Looks like you can do that on Netflix. “And then I went to Lanterns Again, thanks to Alexi, because he gave me time and the ability to go out and do other projects. And, I dropped more Lanterns, ” Fillion said to collider Weintraub.

According to Hawley, Fillion really lets go in the show – which is suitable, given the way he describes Guy Gardner: “I think everyone hates Guy Gardner Jolie Still, “said Fillion laughing.” He is not very kind and that does not bother him. He agrees with that. I think he’s a very defensive guy. He’s a guy with a chip on his shoulder. He only wants someone close to him, but he doesn’t care about what someone thinks. He’s a guy difficult to get closer. As if he was damaged by the brain, do you know?

It is a big change compared to the heroic characters that the Fillion usually plays, and it appreciates every second: “Usually, I am the kind of hero. It is very liberating to play these kinds of things … These more unimportable roles.”

No major hiccups have slowed down the series expected for a long time, which is deeply in production. Lanterns stars Kyle Chandler (Friday evening lights) As a veteran lantern Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre (Rebellious ridge) As a rising recruit John Stewart. Together, they are responsible for investigating a deadly plot rooted on earth – a scenario described as having echoes of Real detectiveBut with a cosmic touch.

Actor Jason RitterWho plays Billy Macon, recently told Forbes that the series has exceeded the half of the shooting season 1. According to Ritter:

“We have shot 4 episodes so far, and we are about to start shooting episodes 3 and 4. We are doing everything a little down – it was so fun and it’s a really well written and really fun show.”

This momentum is promising, especially as Lanterns balances its grainy tone with the construction requirements of the larger DCU world. The series is led by Chris Mundy (Ozark,, Real detective) like showrunner, with episodes made by James Hawes,, Stephen WilliamsAnd Geeta vasing patel. Hawes, who runs first, previously teased:

“He looks and feels rooted. You meet two guys [Chandler and Pierre]But there is spirit and comedy that you do not expect Real detective. In many ways, it is a friend’s cop structure with traveling in the story of history, before, which is really sophisticated. “”

In addition to Chandler, Pierre and Ritter, the cast also includes Ulrich Thomsen Like Sinestro, Kelly Macdonald As Kerry, Garret Dillahunt like William Macon, and Poorna Jagannathan in a non -disclosed role.
