The star of friends courteney cox has titled a horror show underestimated on HBO Max

Although the average person mainly knows Courtney Cox for his sitcom roles as in “Friends” or “Cougar Town” (well, mainly this first), horror fans know him as a successful cries queen. Not only did she play in six films “Scream” different at this stage (soon seven), but recently, she played in the Starz series “Shining Vale”, a series of horror where Cox grabs the line between frightening and funny again.
The show concerns Patricia “Pat” Phelps (Cox), whose family moves into a new completely haunted house. Described by the own Valerie Ettenhofer of the film as “a wacky and macabre exploration of the intersections between inspiration and destruction”, the show continued for two crazy seasons before being canceled by its network. Cancellation is one thing, but Starz rubbed the salt in the injury by quickly erasing the show of its streaming service entirely.
He was one of the countless examples of the drawbacks of the streaming era. It may seem more practical today to watch shows via streaming platforms, but unless you have a physical copy of the show or television show, the day can come when you can suddenly access it at all. “Westworld” fans learned something similar when, after being a major HBO series for years, the show suddenly was completely rubbed by HBO Max in 2022. Although in an ironic advantage of the cancellation of Starz of “Shining Vale”, it was actually HBO Max who bought the series, saving the show from being erased from the Internet.
Courteney Cox had great hopes to “shine vale”
“I like dark things,” said Cox in an interview in 2022 with Variety Higing Up “Shining Vale” season 1. She added: “I have always been a fan of films like” Rosemary’s Baby “or” The Shining “, where it is so psychological, and the characters have such transformations. It really likes.”
At the time of the interview, “Shining Vale” had just been renewed for a second season. Cox seemed to feel particularly full of hope as to the longevity of the series, and she recalled a similar feeling that she had at the beginning of “friends”. As she explained:
“”[‘Shining Vale] I felt like something that worked. I thought that before and that I was generally right, I mean, of course with “friends”. At the end of doing the pilot, I took my chance and bought a car. I said to myself: “I know it’s okay.” … this time, I think that the chemistry of distribution and the subject [works]. … I was obviously in comedies and a horror that was united, but the way it is done, I thought it was really original and I had great hopes for that. It’s very exciting. “”
Even some of the criticisms had great hopes for the long-term spectacle, some of which speculate that “brilliant val” could finally get cox that it always deserved. But as fun as “Shining Vale” was, the audience and the support of Starz simply did not seem to be there. “I am crushed and deeply saddened by the news,” the co-creator Jeff Astrof wrote in a statement when the cancellation was announced. On a lighter note, he added: “I am more than grateful to have been able to say the Phelps saga in the past two seasons.”
