Tribeca Films, the distribution label of Tribeca Enterprises and Giant Pictures, acquired the documentary acclaimed by the criticism “We can be heroes” of the filmmakers Carina Mia Wong and Alex Simmons. The film will be released digitally on July 29.
“We can be heroes” follows the story of a “group of cozy teenagers self-proclaimed in a live playing summer camp (LARP-IG)”. The film had its world premiere at SXSW 2024, where it received a special prize for the jury for bravery and empathy.
“The film has been a work of love of the whole team from the start, with a unique opportunity to pay tribute to the experience of adolescents and the trip of self -transformation – in the most magical way,” said Mia Wong in a press release. “At a time when we are constantly overwhelmed by the news of turbulence and uncertainty, we hope that the film will inspire you to look with new eyes and to find everything we can still be – and that we must be – full of hope.”
“This slate reflects everything we love in an independent film – a daring narration, talents in small groups and voices that surprise us. From a sincere Larping doc to a false musical documentary and an intimate space led by adolescents, in Tribeca, we are proud to give these stories the lightning and CEO Jane Rosenthal.
Davis Guggenheim is the producer of the film. “We can be heroes” is produced by Concordia Studio.
This summer, Tribeca Films will also be released Christopher Bouckoms and the Sam Pezzullo model “The Premiere”, the Spanish Thriller of Hugo Ruíz “One Night With Adela” and the Dramatic of the Age of the Age of the age of 19.
