The Romulus following script is finished but Fede Álvarez canceled the director’s chair

Alien: Romulus Was greeted by fans and criticisms and has transformed solid box office numbers, but it seems that this will not be enough to keep Fede Álvarez on board for the rest, at least as director.
Álvarez will remain involved in follow-up as a producer and co-scriptwriter alongside Rodo Sayagues, but the director of Evil Dead wants his next director effort to be on an original concept, not as an existing intellectual property.
Addressing TOOFAB, Alvarez cited the fact that the extraterrestrial franchise has somewhat prospered on the notion of directors who pass the torch to new promising new filmmakers, and he wants to continue this loose tradition.
“”We have just finished the script, in fact, for a suite for Romulus. But I will pass the torch on it as a director“Alvarez said.”I will produce it, with Ridley Scott, we will produce it together, and we are currently trying to find a new filmmaker to come.“”
“”I think that is generally what happened, except Ridley, the filmmakers come, you make one and you pass the stick to the next one. But we have written the story because we really like what we started with Romulus, and we want to continue the story. We love the story, and now we just want to find a director who really wants to opt for the jugular.“”
Ridley Scott, director of The Original Alien (1979), will also be involved in the Romulus suite as a co -producer. And with Álvarez and Sayagues who come back to manage the script, the project should maintain its established creative DNA, even with a new vision of a director.
Alien: Romulus was initially developed as a streaming version only for Hulu before Disney does a production pivot. This change of director was profitable, Romulus reported $ 350.9 million worldwide, against a modest production budget of only $ 80 million, which also obtained a positive note of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.
