Williams continues to be one of the star players of the sports club, but because of this, he aroused significant interest. Barcelona failed to sign it last summer, and 12 months, new names entered the race – in particular, there have been interests shown from Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

But the chances that one of these teams obtains an agreement this summer seem to be thin. According to sport, Williams hesitates to get out of Spain, despite the fact that Arsenal and Chelsea are both willing to activate the Liberation clause in his sports contract.

Despite Barcelona’s rejection last summer, Williams is interested in joining the Liga champions in 2025. But unfortunately for the Spanish international, they do not consider him an option at this stage, Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford being the main targets of the club’s left wing.

At this point, the most likely scenario is that Williams signs a new contract with Athletic. Its current agreement expired in 2027, so there was an increase in its future. But if Barcelona (or Real Madrid) will not come, there is a good chance that the 22 -year -old will extend his stay in Bilbao.
If he did, Athletic would seek to considerably increase the value of his liberation clause, which currently amounts to 60 million euros. If this happens, the chances of a future transfer would decrease a considerable amount, since Los Leones would very rarely negotiate sales of their star players.
