The referee MLB Derek Thomas obtains a 3rd strike error, aggravates things with a rapid ejection of Nico Hoerner of Cubs

Referee Mlb Derek Thomas has a short fuse.

The second goal of Chicago Cubs, Nico Hoerner, paid the price for this on Sunday.

Thomas worked on the marble for Sunday’s match between the Cubs and the Detroit Tigers. He called Hoerner on a bad third strike called. He then quickly expelled Hoerner after Hoerner protested the call.

The ejection took place at the top of the fifth round. Hoerner faced an account of 2-2 with a runner in second position and the Cubs lagging behind, 2-0. The start of the Tigers, Jack Flaherty, launched a rapid 90 MPH bullet which was probably low and definitely inside.

Hoerner called this a strike for the second round. Hoerner turned to protest against the call. Thomas immediately threw his hand into the air to point out that Hoerner was ejected.

Cubs manager, Craig Counsell, lacked the canoe to share his reflections with Thomas. The ejection was not as fast, but Thomas also sent advice to the Cubs clubhouse. Counsell did not leave the field without finishing what he had to say.

What Hoerner said

Hoerner had to say something blatant to justify such a rapid ejection, right?

It turns out that not so much. Hoerner shared with journalists after the match what he said to be ejected.

“I don’t think it’s really that you can say word for the word to the press afterwards what made you throw away,” said Hoerner. “I said,” You have a very bad day. “”

Audio in the field checks Hoerner’s account:

“You have a very bad day so far,” Hoerner told Thomas before Thomas quickly gave him the hook.

Hoerner then pleaded his file with Thomas.

“I said:” You spend a very bad day so far “,” he continued, hammering at home that he had said none of the magic words that are generally associated with such rapid ejection.

Counsell took over the case from there. But their calls were in vain. Hoerner’s ejection was final and Counsell quickly followed.

The Tigers won a 4-0 victory. And there was no responsibility for Thomas for having followed a bad decision with another. And fans calling for automated balls and strike calls were provided with another brilliant example to assert their cause.
