The recipient 2 times Gold Glove Nick Ahmed retires

The double winner of Gold Glove, Nick Ahmed, announced his retirement from professional baseball on Thursday.

Ahmed, 35, spent 10 seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, then divided the 2024 campaign with the Giants of San Francisco, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres before playing in five games this season with the Texas Rangers. It was selected by the Braves d’Atlanta in the second round of the MLB 2011 draft in Uconn.

“As long as I remember, all I have always wanted to do was playing baseball,” said Ahmed on social networks. “I was able to live my childhood dream and play for a very long time! After 15 professional seasons and more than a decade in the big leagues, I officially hang up my peaks and I take advantage of playing.”

“To all the organizations for which I have to play … Atlanta, thank you for writing me! Arizona … calling me in the big leagues and believing in me for 10 seasons! SF, the, sd and text … Thank you for giving me chances for continuing to do what I liked!”

Winner of Gold Glove in 2018 and 2019 when he played the Curart stop, Ahmed beat. 233 with 72 circuits and 339 points produced in 964 career games.

“I would always like the baseball game,” he added. “I am excited for my next chapter and the opportunity to give me the best of me to this game that we all like!”
