The Rangers should have gone to Jose Mourinho, says the former Star of Scotland

The Rangers should have targeted Jose Mourinho after having dismissed Philippe Clement, according to the former Scottish winger Pat Nevin, who now believes that Sean Dyche is the man to take over in Ibrox.
Mourinho would have interested the Rangers board of directors in the summer before choosing to appoint Russell Martin as head coach. The 123 -day Martin’s mandate ended on Sunday with the club eighth in the table of the Scottish Prime Minister, nine points at Celtic and 11 behind the Hearts leaders.
The research started for a replacement for Martin, but Nevin thinks that the best candidate has already fled. Mourinho was dismissed by Fenerbahce in August but reappeared three weeks later in Benfica.
“I maintain that the club missed a huge chance by not trying with José Mourinho after having dismissed Philippe Clement – it would have been an excellent meeting,” Nevin told Paris online Betwright.
Otherwise Mourinho, then Dyche is the best best fit – Nevin
With Mourinho out of the market, Nevin thinks that Sean Dyche would be suitable for the bill, despite the concerns of the fans that his security football brand would not be able to bring back the right times to Govan.
“I think Sean Dyche should be considered for the work of the Rangers; I note it very strongly,” he added.
“Dyche would bring a structure and an organization to the team, even if the fans would not necessarily fall in love with the style of play. But they would quickly go on board if the club passed a good shape! I don’t think there is an obvious choice for the club, but I don’t see the club watching a manager already in Scotland.
“Steven Gerrard was the last man to win the League for the Rangers; He was the fly in the ointment for Celtic. I know that some fans were not convinced by him at the end, but that’s what happens with managers.
“I have already been in the position where I had to choose the managers, and the most important thing is to think with your head and not your heart. Gerrard and Barry Ferguson are both big names in Scotland – but if neither is the best option for the club, they should not be named. The club should always opt for the best candidate for the position, whatever the name.”
“Rangers are like Manchester United”
The frequent merry -go -round in the Ibrox canoe means that the club now has a team of players gathered by a collection of different managers who fight for frost.
Nevin said: “The Rangers are starting to become a bit like Manchester United. There have been so many changes to players and managers – just like United – and they don’t settle down. They have a Squad Franken ”; There are players who have been brought by different managers, and that does not help the team either.
“As a player, you want to be in a stable environment and avoid spectacular changes to the club, whether it is a change of position or role in the team. Each manager who comes has an idea of the way he wants the team and individuals to play, so that a player can be invited to play a role completely different from what they are used to, in order to correspond to the manager’s style.
We see an excellent opportunity to come – club chiefs
Derek Mcinnes and Kevin Muscat were also linked to vacancy and club president Andrew Cavenagh and Vice-President Paraag Marathe wrote to fans last night in order to relieve the anger of their current situation.
They said: “A rigorous and thoughtful recruitment process is already underway, and we treat it with the urgency it deserves. We are both deeply involved, and the evaluation will have our full attention until we are confident that we have a leader with the character and the skills to provide results.
“The change is never easy. But we are not deterred by hard work – in fact, we see an excellent opportunity to come. The season is not over and we have a lot to play in the four competitions. Together, we undertake to deliver the performances and the results of which you can be proud.”
