The president of the CSUSB, Tomás D. Morales, announces his last year as president

During the 51st year of his career in higher education and his 13th year as president of California State University, San Bernardino, Tomás D. Morales announced that he would withdraw from the position at the end of the 2025-26 school year.

The announcement was made during the annual convocation of the faculty, staff and administrators by the university on August 21.

After talking about the achievements of the university and the challenges of the new academic year, Morales said: “It was the honor of a life to serve as president. And I can’t wait to move with you this next year. ”

He shared his pride in the institution, adding: “These are not only words, these are what I feel and really believe – and I have a lot of confidence in you and in the future of our campus.”

Morales began its role as the fourth president of CSUSB in August 2012. His commitment to the success of students led to various innovative services of summer bridge and other support services for students and academics, in particular the strengthening of relations with public school districts from kindergarten to 12th year and community colleges of the Internal Empire.

He successfully finished the first CSUSB fund collection campaign, raising $ 54 million while doubling the university endowment. The second campaign to collect fundraising from the university establishes new records for the two -campus institution. Its dedication to diversity caused the development of the sole office of diversity, equity and unique inclusion of the institution. In addition, he directed the first truly bi-comedy initiative to improve the realization of colleges leading to the foundation of the organization 501 (C) (3), in domestic growth, which collected more than 25 million dollars for this objective. In addition, under his watch, 552,612 raw square feet were added to San Bernardino and Palm Desert.

Morales spent his career working for New York State University, New York City University and California State University. Before coming to CSUSB, Morales was president of the College of Staten Island, University of the City of New York (Cuny), from 2007 to 2012.

From 2001 to 2007, Morales was used for various titles at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (CPP), including the provost and vice-president of academic affairs, vice-president of student affairs and education teacher. At the CPP, he created the Kellogg Honors College, has realligned the academic affairs division and played a key role in the realization of an expansion of 23 million dollars of the Bronco Student Center, among other projects.
