The Pont du Pont de San Luis ends at its end

Galveston County, Texas (Ktrk) – Soon, you won’t have to worry if you have money on you if you drive the San Luis Pass bridge. In April, Galveston County Commissioners voted unanimously to end the $ 2 toll.
The San Luis Bridge Toll Plaza will cease operations after May 21, 2025. If you have pre-purchased toll tickets or punch cards, you can submit your unused tickets and cards for reimbursement until August 31, 2025.
You can subject yourself to refund in two ways:
- Before May 21, 2025, fill out the following two-page form and provide it with the San Luis Pass toll cabin toll operator. You will have to transform unused tickets and punching cards at that time.
- Submit your two -page form and your unused punch tickets to the courthouse Moody in Galveston, 722 Moody Ave. Visit the information technology office on the 2nd floor of the building between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, with the exception of the holidays.
Virgin forms are also available in both places.
Request for refund requests must be submitted in person and will not be accepted by ordinary mail or e-mail.
At the time of your submission, you will receive a receipt for the amount of reimbursement provided. Please provide up to six weeks for refunds to be sent.
History of the toll bridge
The article was placed there by Commissioner Joe Giusti. He told ABC13 that he had the idea of taking a closer look at the toll when the construction of the Gulf motorway caused backups to the west end of the island due to the toll.
Giusti said the toll generates $ 500,000 a year. More than half of this goes to the wages of toll staff.
He said the six workers will be offered other county positions. County leaders say that another reason for the decision is that the toll was paid 40 years ago.
Future impacts
Although the toll disappears, it may not stay forever.
The county plans to build a new bridge of $ 100 million. County leaders asked for a TXDOT subsidy to try 80% in this way.
The county would still be on the hook for more than $ 20 million. It is possible to help pay for this, the county could add a toll once finished.
