Tyler Perry, Netflix and Terre J. Vaughn are prosecuted on their new series “She The People”.
The founder and president of the non -profit association, She People, filed a complaint against Netflix and Tyler Perry on the scripted series of the same name, Law reports 360.
Aimee Allison tabled the trial just before the May 22 release of the new Netflix series from Tyler Perry. The costume brought against Netflix, Perry, his business, Tyler Vision, LLC, and actress Terre Vaughn allegates that the series breaks the brand’s identity with non -profit and the established good will of her political advocacy work.
Vaughn plays in the new comedy series as an Antoinette Dunkerson, a determined politician who presented himself at Lieutenant-Governor who ends up serving under a sexist and condescending boss, while helping his family navigating the new spotlights of public life. Perry co-created the sitcom with Niya Palmer, who is also an executive producer alongside Vaughn and the former mayor of Atlanta, Keisha launches Bottoms.
The trial claims that Alison had previously associated himself with Vaughn to develop documentation inspired by the concept “She The People” and that the new Netflix series greatly borrows the themes and the structure of his original work.
“The series echoes many of the same themes concerning the experiences of black women in politics that Ms. Allison approaches by her activism under the brand, although the people mark, although in a slightly different format,” said the trial. “With a light and comic touch, the trailer of the series (the” trailer “) shows the newly elected lieutenant-group confronting a certain number of problems likely to resonate with women of color[.]””
Allison’s trial argues that the themes of the show, used alongside the brand “She The People”, raise concerns concerning the potential improper use of Allison intellectual property. She did not publicly address the trial or the new Perry show, which is currently in the first series of Netflix.
Before the beginnings of the show, she shared a revealing Instagram publication. “Ideas have value. Some of us have ideas – the most beautiful – who are carrying out a sense, to shape culture and to create a lasting value,” said its legend in part.
