Last week, we were surprised to see that Microsoft was concerned not only for laptops of play, but actively supported them in his Xbox ecosystem. And if Microsoft’s final plans reveal themselves as their appearance, they could be about to play a much more central role.
Microsoft has officially confirmed the development of its new generation Xbox equipment, signaling a strategic change to a more open and more versatile game ecosystem. In a recent announcement, Xbox president Sarah Bond revealed a multi -year partnership with AMD to develop personalized silicon that will feed a new family of Xbox aircraft, including traditional show consoles and new portable systems.
This is not the “big news” here, however. After all, Xbox has used AMD equipment for its continuous consoles since the launch of the Xbox One in 2013, about 12 years ago, so it is not really surprising to see that the next Xbox will also have AMD equipment. What is surprising is the fact that the equipment will be used in a “portfolio of devices”. In a significant difference compared to the traditional console model, Microsoft said that the future Xbox experience will not be “locked in a single store or linked to a single device”. This has two meanings. First and foremost, the new generation Xbox ecosystem will not only be composed of a domestic console or a series of home consoles, but could also include things like pocket computers as a “main” part of the Xbox experience.
This also indicates a future where Xbox equipment can allow access to other digital game stores and will be less “closed”. This strongly implies that the line between Xbox games and PC games will be more blurred, Xbox consoles are also able to play PC games, perhaps even by performing a version of Windows themselves. Asus’ Xbox Ally’s recent “Xbox Ally” portable devices will run on Windows and have a new Xbox interface in full screen, but will also be able to access other PC game stores like Steam – it could be the philosophy that Microsoft wishes to apply to its own equipment in the first party as well as on the road. It has been five years since the launch of the Xbox series and the X series, so it is not crazy about already talking about their successors.

And there are already some new revised pocket computers too.
Something that could worry some longtime players is the fate of their existing game libraries. Bond has resolved it directly, confirming that the next generation of Xbox will maintain compatibility backwards. “It’s about building a game platform that is still with you,” she told players that their investment in Xbox games will continue to new equipment.
We will have to wait and see what the next generation of Xbox looks like, but it certainly seems interesting.
