The next film will be “better, stronger and daring”

After Amazon MGM, the studios revealed Thursday that Steven Knight wrote James Bond’s new film by Denis Villeneuve, the creator of “Peaky Blinders” gave his first interview on the secret project.
Addressing “Live Breakfast” of BBC Radio 5 Friday morning, Knight said that being involved in a film 007 “has always been on my list of buckets”.
“It’s fantastic to be invited to do so,” he added. “I can’t wait to start.”
Knight, whose credits also include the films of Pablo Larrain “Spencer” and “Maria” as well as the television programs “See” and “SAS: Rogue Heroes”, said that he was invited to a meeting with producer Amy Pascal but “did not know what it was”.
“I very quickly discovered what it was and I became very excited and full of hope,” Knight told the BBC. “And then the process is … you make meetings, you discuss a few ideas and then you discover that you have it. I discovered some time ago, but it was announced last night, which is great.”
When asked if he felt the pressure to deliver on the new film Bond, which will be the first with Amazon in the control of the franchise, Knight said: “I mean the way I look at him, you just have to do what you do, do as well as you can, then what can you do else?”
He added: “I hope that being a fan of leap for so many years, it will be somehow imbued with me and that I can produce something the same but different and better and stronger and more daring.”
So, does Knight know who will be the next link? “Very, very good question and to which I cannot give you the answer,” he said timidly.
With Pascal, David Heyman is on board to produce the new Bond film and Tanya Lapointe Will Executive Produce. As Variety Previously, the studio plans a potential release in 2028 for the film and the actors at the top of their wishes list for the spy includes Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson and Tom Holland.
