The new test era begins as the name of India captain
At a press conference, the Cricket Control Council in India announced Shubman Gill as a new captain on the test side.
The right -handed striker appeared in 32 tests for the country, and has 1893 points at an average of 35.05, with five tonnes in name.
Gill previously captured India in T20i format, after leading the team in the five -game series in Zimbabwe in July 2024.
His first assignment as a full -time test captain will be on the tour of England. After the pensions of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin, the Asian part will wear a new look for their five test tour from June 20 – the series which will mark the start of the new cycle of the World Test ICC Championship.
The president of India of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, discussed Gill’s appointment at the press conference.
“During the past year, we watched Shubman at various times. You also take many comments from the wardrobe.
“He is very young but we have seen the improvement. I know it’s the T20 cricket for GT [Gujarat Titans in IPL] In addition, but you take the comments of many people.
“We hope he is the guy. It will always be a high pressure job, as is always, but we hope we have chosen the right guy. He is a great player.”
