Virginia coach Tony Elliott is not afraid to boast the positive points associated with his team entering the season.

He hopes that many of these attributes will be exhibited against Coastal Carolina on Saturday evening in Charlottesville, Virginia.

“I think you will like what you see,” said Elliott. “The expectation we have inside the building is probably greater than any expectation (fans). There is no excuse.”

Elliott, during his fourth season after the 5-7 record last year, compiled a list which includes 32 transfers and 22 first-year students. The quarter-Arrière Chandler Morris, who spent last year at the North Texas, is the quarter-Arrière Chandler Morris, who spent last year north of Texas and is the son of Chad Morris, a former coache colleague at Elliott in Clemson.

“That’s all I remember in terms of leadership,” said Elliott. “It was really very good to see this (during training).”

All Virginia coaches staff last season are still on board, so continuity is considered a blessing for the riders, who have won seven of their last eight season.

Coastal Carolina coach Tim Beck, entering his third season, said that there was a different state of mind among the chantics compared to a year ago. They try to shake a 6-7 season and therefore the next step comes with the start of a new campaign.

“I can’t even start explaining the difference in the team’s makeup,” said Beck. “You can simply feel it. … Our leadership, in general, as a football team, is better.”

Beck appointed MJ Morris as a quarter-back from the team for the Virginia match, although Coastal Carolina should also give Tad Hudson and / or Samari Collier.

“A very hard and talented young man,” said Beck, who was deputy coach of the North Carolina State when Morris played there in 2022. Morris appeared in seven games for Maryland in 2024.

Beck said the Chanticers had fierce competition in the receiver’s position. Jameson Tucker is part of the reception body after catching a pass of a hit at the top of the team last season.

One of the best defenders of Virginia Secondary will be Ethan Minister, a second year student safely.

“Now his physique really starts to show,” said Elliott. “He anticipates plays. He got his hands on a lot of bullets, in fact removed a couple from the fall camp. … He is able to see the overview.”

Virginia won the 43-24 meeting last year in Coastal Carolina, Anthony Colarrea (now at UNLV) launching two Touché passes. The riders built an advance of 27-10 at halftime.
