The Nepal student was found hung in her inn room inside the university campus on Thursday, police announced. According to the news agency IANS, the deceased was identified as Prisha Shah, a student in the first year in computer B.TECH who was from the Birgunj region in Nepal.
After being informed, the Bhubaneswar police commissioner, the additional police commissioner, the assistant police commissioner and other police police, as well as the infocrity police staff, immediately reached the place and launched an investigation into the suspicious death of the Nepalese student.
The body of the deceased was sent to Aiims, Bhubaneswar, for a post-mortem, which should be held after the arrival of family members on Friday. “Today, in the evening around 7 pm, when the attendance was taken, a student, Prisha Shah, who was alone in the room, did not respond. When college officials checked, she was found suspended. After being informed, we came here and we have investigated,” said police commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, as Ians said.
He also declared that the scientific team had also reached the inn and was looking for the deceased room for evidence. Singh noted that all the students of the inn trust the police and cooperate in the investigation.
The police commissioner told the media that an investigation started after the registration of a case of death against nature in this regard, because none had filed a complaint alleging an unfair game in the case.
He said measures will be taken if someone’s participation in the suspicious death of the Nepalese student arises.
“We questioned other girls in the inn to check if the deceased had shared something with one of them and shown suspicious symptoms. We spoke to the officials of the Nepal Embassy, who also informed the family members of the deceased. His parents will reach Bhubaneswar on Friday morning,” added Singh. He said that the situation was normal on the campus, because students have fully confidence in the neutrality of police investigations.
Police sources of the police station told Ians that the deceased student was subject to a serious mental stress for a tense relationship with her boyfriend, who stays in Dehradun in Uttarakhand.
The University of Kiit came to the fire line following the suicide of a Nepalese student, Prakriti Lamsal, on February 16 and the subsequent assault against other Nepalese students by the security guard of the private education establishment.
