President Trump said on Saturday that the United States had finished a successful attack on three nuclear sites in Iran and that the planes that have done the mission are already safe.
“We have finished our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, notably Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan,” wrote the president on his social platform Truth. “All the planes are now outside Iranian airspace. A complete payload of bombs has been abandoned on the main site, Fordow. All the planes are safe on the way back. Congratulations to our great American warriors. There is not another soldier in the world that could have done this. Now, it’s time for peace! Thank you for your attention.”
A follow -up article, from Open Source Intel, simply said: “Fordow left.” The rapid action brings the United States directly to the conflict after several days of uncertainty.
In the breakdown of the attack, Trump was not engaged, saying that a decision on the opportunity to join the military strikes of Israel would occur “within two weeks”. But days had barely passed when reports began to spread that the American stealth bombers were heading for the region.
The main objective, Fordow, was a strongly fortified critical underground installation for the Iranian nuclear program. The other two, Natanz and Esfahan, were large -scale uranium enrichment centers.
Israel struck Natanz several days ago with smaller ammunition than the United States brought during the weekend attack. The Esfahan site is the place where Iran would have stored its uranium enriched with bombing grade.
A senior American official told New York Times on Saturday that several B-2 bombers had achieved strikes. It was believed that only American bunker bombs – which only American planes can deliver – would be effective in Fordow, which was built deep underground.
Iran and Israel exchanged ammunition attacks since Friday, when Israeli forces have targeted Iranian infrastructure and the main military leaders. Iran has launched ballistic -reprisal missile strikes in Israel, where President Benjamin Netanyahu said urgent measures were necessary to prevent a nuclear holocaust.
In the days that followed, American leaders remained shy as to whether they would help. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently said that the only priority at the moment was to protect US forces in the region.
But Trump was more belligerent, personally threatening the Iranian supreme chief of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and saying “our patience is becoming thin”, while calling for a complete Iranian surrender. Trump then interrupted his visit to the G7 summit in Alberta, Canada, returning to Washington to meet his military advisers on Monday.
US air strikes were made while the Iran-Israeli conflict intensified on Saturday, while Israeli forces launched their own air strikes on ammunition storage sites and nuclear installations during which American airmen would fly, Times reported.
The Israeli army said it had killed three best commanders of the Islamic revolutionary guard, which has an area on militias throughout the Middle East. Mike Huckabee, the American ambassador to Israel, said that the State Department had started to evacuate the Americans in the country.
Trump was to contact the nation later on Saturday.
