The “ national month of family care “highlights host families and support for special children – Redstate

It is the national host month, so Friday of well-being of this week gives attention to the programs and people who give a house, hope and relief to promote children across the country. Depending on the number of adoption reports and reception report systems, nearly 400,000 children and adolescents are currently in the host family throughout the country. Since 1988, the National Foster Care Mouns aims to support these vulnerable young people as well as to promote families and family well-being.
Sponsored by organizations, non -profit organizations and government organizations, the month offers programs and events that aware of the challenges facing children and young adults who are currently in the family investment system. The month also recognizes and honors the work of reception parents, social workers and other child protection professionals.
Events like “Breaking Barriers” on Wednesday, organized by the organization based in Indianapolis “Foster Success”, sensitize the challenges facing older reception children. The evening presented presentations led by young people of young adults who have gone through the process and who are now out of the system in the real world. Young adults were not only able to share their stories, but were there to support each other in their travels.

Shalise Truxler, a mentor at the event, said: “You have anxiety about speaking in public or even sharing your story. But, once you are able to share and make people make fun of these laughs, and it is more like an interview, then it is really rewarding to see someone else to be able to get out of their shell using the advice that helped me. “
The organizers of fundraising expressed hope that the annual event would break the barriers and would help the community understand the challenges faced by adolescents. The initiative aims to raise awareness and promote an environment favorable to people who go from the family investment system.
Thursday, “First Chance for White Pants” was organized by the Methodist house for the children of Greenville, in North Carolina. Its objective was also to raise awareness, as well as funds towards family care and placement.
As president and chief executive officer Bruce Stanley, in the additional video below:
100%, we need to intensive. You don’t need to own your own house. You can promote with your own children, your organic children already in place. You don’t need to get married to be a welcome parent. And Methodist Home for Children offers incredible training, and we will walk alongside anyone who is ready to serve this way.

In the Friday well-being columns, I highlighted unique reception parents and unique reception situations; And the national adoption day, where adoptions, in particular reception children, have received a special and highlighted opinion. Unlike adoption, family placement has a unique set of circumstances, balancing by giving a refuge to a child associated with (in certain cases) the objective of bringing them together with his families.
I spoke for the first time on Peter Mutabazi in April 2024, and his innovative way of highlighting his role as a single man who acts as an adoptive father to displaced children. Mutabazi not only promotes children, but he adopted three. His first adopted was Anthony, who came to him as Foster at the age of 11, and their history always makes me tears. In 2025, Anthony told his story in his own words, and even if you haven’t heard it, it is worth hearing again.

In his social media videos, Mutabazi will tell you that it is the support of his community resources, in particular those focused on faith, which allows him to give children who desperately need it.
The second nurture, founded by Susan Silverman, is one of these religious resources. Silverman works mainly with synagogues and offers support and management to reception parents and those who wish to explore dishes with host family. Silverman was asked: “Why are religious communities good partners?” Silverman replied,
They are already gathering with a sense of objective and values. No community is like, “oh, screw the orphan”. Most, at least in theory, want to help. Our partners … are already engaged in problems such as homelessness, mass incarceration, drug addiction, trafficking in human beings – and host family experience is the first feeder in all these problems. If you were going into a popular soup and you were asking how many people have been raised with foster family to a certain extent, maybe 80% would have raised their hands. This is because when you “age” family placement at 18 or 21 without a safety net, no one to say “come and live at home and save money”, you are vulnerable. If the foster families succeed, whether by adoption or helping organic families to get back on foot – children do not age without support.
Especially during this month, focused on the foster family, perhaps find an organization in your community that works with and supports the promotion and the family investment system. Or if you have been on the fence, it may be time for you to develop family in a vulnerable child in need.
