The Mississippi Society recalls more than 49 tonnes of catfish due to an inspection problem

Quality Poultry & Seafood Inc., a Biloxi, MS, establishment, recalls 98,916 pounds of catfish nets that were produced without the benefit of the federal inspection, announced today the food security and USDA inspection service (FSIS).

Foods produced without inspection can contain unconcensely allergens, harmful bacteria or other contaminants that endanger the health and safety of consumers.

The catfish nets were produced from September 2, 2024 to September 5, 2025 and carry various labels. We fear that consumers have home products due to their long lifespan.

The following products are subject to reminder [view labels]::

  • Translucent plastic bags packages containing various pieces of frozen fish-cat tears labeled “various malfisouc fifflets, raised breeding fish-cat product” and WT net. 5 #.
  • Cardboard boxes containing three packets of translucent plastic bags containing various pieces of frozen fish-fish teat products labeled “varied fish-fish fifflets, product of US-emergency raised fish fish” and WT net. 15 #.
  • Translucent plastic bags packages containing various pieces of frozen-chip tea products labeled “Irregular catfish rod net, product of raised agricultural catfish from the United States” and WT net. 5 #.
  • Translucent plastic bag packages containing various pieces of frozen fish-fish tea products labeled “random fillet of irregular catfish, product of raised agriculture chat of the United States” and WT net. 5 #.
  • Cardboard boxes containing three packets of translucent plastic bags containing various products of lathered catfish fillet “random fillet of irregular catfish, product of high-American fish in the United States” and WT net. 15 #.

These items were sent to restaurants and retail stores in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, and in the establishment’s retail store.

The problem was discovered when the establishment informed the ISPs that they produced catfish products and the FSI determined that they were produced without inspection.

There was no confirmed report of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction must contact a health care provider.

Consumers who bought these products are invited not to consume them and restaurants are invited not to serve them. These products must be thrown or returned to the place of purchase.
