The Midas Midas ship flows into the northern Pacific of weeks after caught fire

Anchorage, Alaska (AP) – A cargo cargo that had delivered new vehicles to Mexico flowed into the North Pacific Ocean, weeks after the crew members abandoned the ship when they could not turn a fire on board that left the transporter dead in the water.

The Morning Midas sank in international waters in the coast of the Alaska Alawish Islands chain, said the ship’s management company, Zodiac Maritime, based in London, in a statement.

“There is no visible pollution,” said master-master Cameron Snell, spokesperson for the American Coast Guard based in Alaska. “Right now, we also have ships on the spot to respond to any pollution.”

Damage caused by fires composed by bad weather and water infiltration have caused the carrier to around 16,404 feet (5,000 meters) deep and around 415 miles (770 kilometers) of the earth, according to the press release.

The ship was charged with around 3,000 new vehicles intended for a large Pacific port in Mexico. It was not immediately clear if one of the cars was removed before it flowed, and Zodiac Maritime did not immediately respond to messages on Tuesday.

A rescue crew arrived a few days after the fire disabled the vehicle.

Two rescue tugs containing pollution control equipment will remain on the scene to monitor any sign of pollution or debris, said the company. The crew members of these two ships were not injured when Midas in the morning sank.

Zodiac Maritime said that he also sent another specialized pollution response ship to an additional precautionary location.

The Coast Guard said it received a distress alert on June 3 about a fire on the morning of Midas, which was then about 300 miles (490 kilometers) in the southwest of Adak island.

There were 22 Midas morning crew members. All evacuated to a rescue canoe and were rescued by a nearby merchant ship. There was no injury.

Among the cars, there were about 70 fully electric and around 680 hybrid vehicles. A large plume of smoke was initially observed at the stern of the ship from the bridge loaded with electric vehicles, the Coast Guard and the Maritime Zodiac said at the time.

Adak is around 1,200 miles (1,930 kilometers) west of Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska.

The Morning Midas of the 600 -foot morning (183 meters) was built in 2006 and sails under a Liberian flag. The carrier of cars and trucks left Yantai, in China, on May 26 on the way to Mexico, according to the site of the marinetraffic.com industry.
