Are you receiving a $2,000 stimulus check? See how this could happen

Recently, a California congressman suggested that working-class Americans need another check.
According to Newsweek, Rep. Ro Khanna recommended $2,000 payments to Americans earning less than $100,000, arguing the move would balance the costs of some of President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
Several times this year, President Trump has suggested using some of the government revenue generated by the new tariffs to provide rebate checks to taxpayers in certain income brackets, similar to the stimulus payments issued during the pandemic.
In February, he also floated the idea of distributing $5,000 stimulus checks as a “DOGE dividend” at a summit in Miami. He described the plan as returning some of the 20% savings identified by Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to taxpayers. Since then, however, it has not released any additional details or confirmed whether “DOGE dividends” or tariff reductions are moving forward.
And last week, during an Oct. 2 interview with One America News, Trump again suggested handing out stimulus checks of between $1,000 and $2,000 per person.
“We will pay down the debt, but we might also make a distribution to the people, almost like a dividend for the American people,” he said.
Will Khanna’s proposal result in another round of stimulus checks for Texans and Americans?
There is no indication that a fourth stimulus check will be issued as a result of cost-cutting measures. Any form of stimulus payment issued by the U.S. government would need to be approved by Congress. Don’t expect a check anytime soon.
The Department of Government Efficiency, officially the US DOGE Service Temporary Organization, is an initiative created by Trump and led by former “special government employee” Elon Musk. DOGE’s mission was to reduce federal spending, streamline regulations, and modernize federal technology and software to improve government efficiency and productivity.
For stimulus checks to be sent, they must first be introduced into legislation.
