The Malta Mediterrane Film Festival in 2025 jury, special programming

The 2025 edition of the Mediterrane Film Festival is in place.
The third episode of the festival – planned in Valletta, Malta from June 21 to 29 – was wound in a jury which includes the filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke (Dusk), The production designer winning Oscars, Rick Carter (Avatar), Costume designer Charles Antoinette (Air), Elli Griff setting decorator (Napoleon), James Price production designer (Poor things), Maltese director Mario Philip Coofardi (Zos: separation zone). The jury will determine the beneficiaries of the Golden Bee Awards, a list that will be unveiled during a gala on June 29.
The Film Film Film Méditerrane, which is under the direction of a new creative team in the director of the Ray Calleja festival and the curator Mark Adams, presents three programming pillars: the main competition (films from all over the Mediterranean), out of competition (world selections) and Mare Nostrum or our sea (films dedicated to sustainability and environmental themes). The latter’s jury includes Grainne Humphreys, a long -standing artistic director of the Dublin Film Festival, and Ania Trzebiatowska, a senior programmer at Sundance Film Festival.
Beyond the public projections of the festival, the programming will also include panels, round tables and masterclasses of notable talents from the industry. The member of the Jury Hardwicke will draw the double service this year because she has already been reserved for a filmmaker’s discussion in support of his film, Lords of Dogtownwho will have a 20th anniversary screening. Former speakers include Mike Leigh, editor -in -chief Yorgos Mavropsaridis (Poor things), The Oscar production designer Nathan Crowley (Wicked), Director of Casting Margery Simkin (Top gun) and compose Simon Franglen (Avatar: Water path).
This year’s festival is organized with the theme “We are film”, which is supposed to be a reflection of the festival mission to unite the creators and the public to honor the universal language of the film. He also aligns himself with an important stage of Malta: 2025 marks 100 years of cinema in the region, dating back to his first feature film, 1925 Son of the sea. During the century since the century, it has become a hot production center thanks to its architecture, landscapes and water -based facilities in Malta’s cinema studios. The films that have made in the region include Gladiator, Troy, Game of Thrones, Napoleon And many others.
