The last of the United States of season 2 of season 7 Cliffhanger at the end explained: Is Ellie dead?

This article deals with the events of season 2, episode 7 and the series of video games, then proceed to caution unless you are safe from Spoilers.
“The Last of Us” has become a show that killed both Of his two central characters in the space of a season of seven episodes? The final of season 2 certainly wants viewers to think it when Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) transforms her weapon to Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and a fire cut in black.

Fans of the video game fans “The Last of Us Part II” by Naughty Dog already knew that the death of Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) arrived, and “The Last of Us” season 2, episode 2 – entitled “by the valley” – delivered an even more devastating version of his death than expected, thanks to certain tactically added details. Now, the cliffhanger of the final strongly suggests that Joel’s substitution daughter and the current main protagonist joined the list of main characters on the program.
It all starts with Ellie to face Owen (Spencer Lord) and Mel (Ariela Barrers) at the Waterfront aquarium in Seattle in search of information on where Abby is. When Owen pulls a pistol, Ellie shoots him in retaliation and the ball badly hurts Mel too. Losing a bunch of friends in front of a mysterious assailant invites Abby to find the culprit. As she storms the theater base of Jackson’s crew, she kills Jesse (young Mazino) and hurts Tommy (Gabriel Luna), thinking that he is the attacker. When Ellie admits the truth, she turns angry to shoot her.

Regarding season 2 of “The Last of Us”, that’s it. After the shot, everything we get is an overview of the Abby’s attachment base – the WLF headquarters at the Soundview stadium – indicating a change of point of view. So, is he dead? Is the show all on Abby now?
Ellie is certainly not yet dead, but it is now Abby’s turn to shine
Even a spectacle as relentless as “the last of us” would hesitate to kill a protagonist which is only halfway through its arc of revenge, especially when death does not occur in source equipment. For this reason, the overwhelming chances are that Ellie can be injured but always very alive … especially since HBO has already confirmed that season 3 of “The Last of Us” is coming. In “The Last of Us Part II” by Naughty Dog, Ellie survives the events of the game, and the story still has so many emblematic scenes centered on Ellie in store that fans (and Neil Druckmann) would probably revolt if the show came all by killing it. In addition, this would leave the future seasons seriously short of the source material to be adapted.

In the game, Abby and an ally Séaphite called Lev Storm the theater base of Jackson Crew, who triggered the first physical confrontation between her and Ellie. As such, it is likely that Ellie survives not only at the shot, but we can also see the version of the show of the Vicious Battle of the Behind the scenes of the pair. That said, don’t expect to see Ellie soon when season 3 of “The Last of Us” will arrive. The story of the game passes an amount of prolonged time showing what Abby does while Ellie sneaks while trying to find it – and the revelation that the clock resets the “Seattle Day One” during the Soundview Stadium Reveal is also a fairly obvious index that this is exactly what season 3 intends to do.

The decision to kill apparently Ellie can serve several ends for the show
The shot is an effective cliffhanger, but there can be other pragmatic reasons behind it. One is the aforementioned change in view. In “The Last of Us Part II”, the Switch occurs after the theatrical struggle between Abby and Ellie. The television and video games play by different rules, and given the rhythm of the show, the final of season 2 would have been far too early for a tense battle between the two. We will get it, without a doubt – but to increase the stakes, the show will probably want to give Abby more screen time first, which may have encouraged a little bit to tinker with the story. I guess season 3 will focus entirely on Abby in the same way as season 2 on Ellie, and the theater fight will be the final of the season.

Although I personally doubt it, there is also a chance that the show is really followed with the teasing, in which case Ellie is probably injured and needs help. If that happens, the show will almost certainly pay additional attention to the other members of the Jackson team. Season 2 of “The Last of Us” improves the romance of Ellie and Dina (Isabela Merced), which undoubtedly gives Dina more room to breathe as a character. Tommy (Gabriel Luna), with his sequences of action heroes and other additional scenes, was also more important in season 2 than in the game. There is every chance that the spectacle continues to raise these characters beyond the source material, in one way or another. After all, original moments like Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank’s (Murray Bartlett) of season 1 episode “Long, Long Time” and the Battle of Jackson in “Through the Valley” gave the show some of its most impressive moments.
