Tottenham could add to their midfielder options in January, and a longtime target could be the player they are looking for to sign. Conor Gallagher has been on the club’s radar for some time, and finally, an agreement can be concluded in 2026.

Gallagher had a mixed start to the season with Atletico Madrid, having had trouble ordering a regular starting place. And if that continues to be the case, he could look for an outing – although it does not happen until next summer.

According to the football initiate, Pete O’Rourke doubted Tottenham’s chances of signing Gallagher when the transfer window reopens in January.

“It would be difficult to do. It is not surprising that there have been clubs that sniff Gallagher in summer. He entered and left the Atletico Madrid team, did not play as many minutes as he wishes at La Liga, but he started in the Champions League against Liverpool.

“This makes it a difficult case to make in January due to the costs involved and, obviously, Atletico should also replace it. By thinking of Gallagher himself, would he want to move halfway from the season, especially in a year of World Cup?

“Again, that could be another thing that might have to get into players thinking that he could stay at Atletico Madrid where he is installed. As long as he gets the minutes, I’m sure he will be happy to stay there.”

The rest of this season is crucial for Gallagher in his efforts to be included in the Thomas Tuchel team for the next World Cup, and it would be a risk of changing the clubs of the months before the start of the tournament. In this regard, it is logical that it remains at Atletico, which would be bad news for Tottenham.
