The intercept reveals the NSA top secret document on the hacking of Russia for the American voting system – Mother Jones

Monday, the Intercept published a classified internal NSA document Note that Russian military intelligence has set up an operation to hack at least one supplier of voting software in the United States – which provided software related to voter registration files – in the months preceding the presidential competition from last year. It was previously reported that Russia had attempted to hack voters’ recording systems, but this NSA document provides details on how such an operation has occurred.
According to the Intercept::
The document of the national security agency TOP secret, which was provided anonymously to interception and independently authenticated, analyzes the intelligence very recently acquired by the agency on a one-month Russian intelligence capstage against elections of the US elections and voting infrastructure. The report, dated May 5, 2017, is the story of the most detailed US government of Russian interference in the elections that have been revealed.
Although the document provides a rare window on the understanding of the NSA of Russian hacking mechanics, it does not show the underlying “raw” intelligence on which the analysis is based. An American intelligence agent who refused to be identified warned against the excessive draw of the document because only one analysis is not necessarily final.
The report indicates that Russian hacking can have entered the American voting systems that this had been understood before. He indicates unequivocally in his summary declaration that it is Russian military intelligence, in particular the main main intelligence department of the Russian staff, or Gru, who led the cyber attacks described in the document:
The main players in the main Russian intelligence department … have carried out cyber-spying operations against an American company appointed in August 2016, obviously to obtain information on software and hardware solutions related to the elections. … The actors probably used data obtained from this operation to… launch a spear phoists campaign on the theme of the recording of voters targeting local American organizations.
