When the horror anthology franchise “V / H / S” started in 2012, we had not yet entered the streaming wars that would irreversibly change the landscape of the way the public consumed the media, and we were not trapped in the cycle of the “new goalkeeper” who is currently afflicting each major film release, independently of the genre. Horror, no doubt more than any other genre, is the most manifest in his desire to explore, reinvent and pay tribute to the films that preceded, constantly finding ways to ensure that the old feels fresh and new. The first “V / H / S” film did it by borrowing the aesthetics from a time spent and injecting the sensitivity of the narration of a new generation.

In the years that followed, the “V / H / S series” has considerably widened its scope. I firmly believe that there has never been a “bad” lot in all the franchise, even if I have my favorite segments * cough * “safe haven” * cough * and collections. The latest film to be released on VHS, “A History of Violence” by David Cronenberg was printed in 2006, which means that we are now ramping on the last vestige of VHS classified as “Vintage”. How does a deductible built around an obsolete support find a way to maintain relevance and exist beyond a fun gadget? You look inward, and have fun overthrowing comfort and nostalgia attached to these clumsy polypropylene and magnetic ribbon boxes.

“V / H / S / Halloween” is a collection of short films on the Halloween theme of some of the most fascinating established and emerging voices. The joy found in Jack-O’-Lanternns, Trick-Or Treat, costume festivals, neighborhood haunted houses, cheap masks, homemade costumes and the right of “One Good Scare” is in the process of being returned to his head. This is the first “V / H / S” entry for a long time that really looks like an event, and it has been expected for a long time for one of the most coherent deductibles in horror.

V / H / S / Halloween joins the ranks of Halloween anthologies

The line-up for “v/h/s/halloween” is one of its most interesting yet, with music video and short movie maestro bryan Mr. Ferguson’s “Diet phantasma,” “Too many Cooks” and “adult Swim yule log” Helmer Casper Kelly’s “Fun Size,” Fashion Maven and Filmmaker Micheline Pitt-Norman & RH Norman’s “Home Haunt,” “Her Smell,” “pavements,” and “Videoheaven” “Indie Darling Alex Ross Perry” Kid Print “, co-creator of”[REC]”Paco Plaza franchise” ut supra sic infra “by” (translation “, as above”), and “appendix” and “dick size halloween” the director of the director of the director Anna Zlokovic “Cochie Cochie Cochie”.

The anthology joins a long line of Halloween horror anthologies, such as the “Tales of Halloween” submarines, the festival classic “Trick ‘R Treat”, the five original tales of “The Witching Season”, the “Bad Candy” at low budget, and even the birthplace of “terrifying” Star The Clown, “All Hallows Eve”. Although the “V / H / S” series has never decreased in quality with regard to this writer, defining the next episode around the favorite holidays of each fan of horror resembles a recipe for success and a foolproof way to obtain those who checked an excuse to return and catch up with all the entries they could have missed. And if they succeeded, they will have created a film with integrated rewatchability as the stories focused on the holidays fall back in the annual celebration. Let’s just hope that this entry will have more treats than stuff.

“V / H / S / Halloween” will have its world premiere next month at the Fantastic Fest, before its wide version streaming exclusively on Frishder from October 3, 2025.
