If Bowman upsets this city with a democratic predominance, he would be the last member of the family of a president or a vice-president to serve in power. This includes Mike Pence’s brother, President’s first vice-president Donald Trump, elected to the congress during their previous administration.

In a statement, Pureval said that the city deserved a “substantial and healthy debate of ideas on the future of our city” led in the fall.

“There is work in front of us in Cincinnati, but I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished in recent years,” he said. “We have made significant and tangible progress for the people of our community, and it’s a moment to continue relying on the momentum that we worked so hard to create.”

Bowman had no immediate comments. He said he wanted to improve his city, and not get involved in national policy.

Pureval, 42, is considered a democratic arrival. A former special assistant prosecutor, candidate for the congress and court clerk of the county of Hamilton. He won the mayor’s race in 2021 with almost 66% of the vote to lead the third city of Ohio.

Bowman, 36, founded an evangelical church in the city’s West End and has coffee. He has never occupied a public service but says that the inauguration of his half-brother inspired him to enter politics.

Vance did not play an active role in the campaign, but he published a message of support for Bowman on Tuesday.

“He’s a good guy with a heart for serving his community,” wrote the vice-president on X. “Go out and vote for him!” Bowman thanked Vance in response: “I love you brother!”

Voters from Cincinnati and Ohio also approved number 2 of the State on Tuesday, the re -authorization of a program which will provide $ 2.5 billion for roads, bridges and other local infrastructure projects necessary during the next decade.
