Manager Bob Melvin said on Monday that Wade’s fight to produce his bats would likely go to others.
“It was difficult,” said Melvin. “Look, Lamonte is also realistic when he said:” I understand, I did not perform very well “, and I do not know that at this stage, a bit of a break and a change of landscape will not be good for him. We wish him the best in the future. I am shocked if he did not do another opportunity. But on the basis of what was happening here recently, we needed.”
Wade, 31, who reached a career summit of 0.260 last season and contributed many strokes during his four seasons and more with the Giants, struck .167 (24 for 144) in 50 games this year. He went 2 for 17 with a double, RBI and three stick withdrawals in the recent road trip of the team at nine games.
The Giants entered Wednesday evening after playing 16 consecutive games scoring four or less points – their second longer sequence in one season since his move to San Francisco in 1958. They did it in 19 consecutive games in 1965.

Buster Posey, president of San Francisco’s baseball operations, described it as a “difficult decision” with Wade.
“One of the most delicate things for me is that there are still guys in the team with which I have played. I had a different relationship with them as a player than now, but I still consider Lamonte as a boyfriend,” said Posey. “So it was not an easy thing to do, but we have to show an offense.”
