Collaborator “ No other land ” killed by Israeli settlers

Awdah Hathaleen, a Palestinian community leader who was a consultant on the Oscar -winning documentary “No Other Land”, died Monday after an Israeli colonist had shot him to the occupied West Bank.

The filmmaker and subject “No Ather Land” Yuval Abraham announced on Monday the death of his colleague, writing on X (formerly Twitter), “[Hathaleen] I just died. Murdered. “Two hours earlier, Abraham shared the video of the confrontation that led to the death of Hathaleen.

In the legend of his video, Abraham writes that the colonist “just pulled” Hathaleen in the lungs and identified the shooter like Yinon Levi. Levi was among the 13 online Israeli colonists last year targeted by international sanctions for their alleged attacks and the harassment of the Palestinians in the West Bank. President Trump raised American sanctions against the Israelis in January.

“He’s in the video firing like a madman,” tweeted Abraham.

The incident occurred in the village of Umm al-Khair, in the region of Masafer Yatta which was at the center of “no other land”. Hathaleen was transported urgently to the Israel hospital, where he was declared dead, confirmed his family to the New York Times. He was 31 years old.

According to several reports, Israeli police said they responded, holding and arresting an Israeli citizen. Police did not identify the detainee whom they took as an interrogation and said that “terrorists have launched stones towards” the Israeli colony close to Carmel, according to CNN. In addition, the Israeli army arrested five Palestinians and two foreign tourists for their alleged involvement in the Monday incident, the BBC reported.

The IDF did not immediately respond to the Times confirmation request on Tuesday.

Marchel Adra Adra Adra Adra tweeted the Palestinian director and journalist Basel Adra showing the video showing the attack from another angle. In this video, Levi is seen with the pistol in his right hand, hitting a person in front of him. The clip also sees Levi raising his right arm and shooting off screen. Adra says that Levi “draws the ball that took” Hathaleen’s life, adding his legend that “the apartheid court decided to release him to the residence.”

Adra tweeted on Monday that he was incredulous as to the death of his friend: “My dear friend Adwah was shot dead this evening. He stood in front of the community center of his village where a colonist fired a bullet which pierced his chest and took his life. This is how Israel erases us – a life at the same time. ”

On Instagram, the Center for Jewish Nonviolence has described Hathaleen as a well -known community figure: “A activist, artist and teacher in the community of West West West Box of Masafer Yatta”. The group of activists reminded Instagram subscribers that last month, Hathaleen and another Palestinian were denied entry, detained overnight and were expelled in the West Bank when they arrived at San Francisco International Airport.

“Many in our community knew Awdah and won so much by learning from him and being his friend,” said the organization, concluding his declaration with an appeal to action. “May the memory of Awdah be a revolution. May we see justice for Awdah and justice for all the Palestinians, of our life. ”

Earlier this year, the Israeli settlers brutalized another member of the Oscarized “No Land” team. In March, the Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal was beaten in the head and in the stomach by settlers from the village of Susiya in the region of Masafer Yatta. Palestinian residents said the settlers, some wearing masks, some wearing firearms and some wearing military uniforms, attacked while residents broke quickly during the Ramadan Sacred Muslim month, according to Associated Press. The Israeli military and police force arrested the filmmaker suspected of having launched rocks in the FDI and the police.

He was released a day later, with bruises on his face and blood on his clothes. As he remembers hearing “the voice of the soldiers who made fun of me”, his wife said that she thought that international attention surrounding “no other land”, the Oscar, prompted the colonists to “attack us more”. The heartbreaking documentary, which has become the subject of controversy in Miami Beach earlier this year, documents Israel’s demolition of Palestinian villages in Masafer Yatta and the displacement of their communities in favor of Israeli military training.

Since Israel launched his war against Hamas almost two years ago, more than 60,000 Palestinians were killed, the Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday. At least 77 have been killed in the past 24 hours, most of them when looking for food.
