Ananda Lewis, former VJ MTV, died after a battle with stadium breast cancer. She was 52 years old.
Lewis’ sister, Lakshmi, shared the news of her death on Facebook, writing: “She is free, and in her celestial arms. Lord, rests her soul.” Lakshmi also said Tmz That Lewis died Wednesday morning at his home in Los Angeles after fighting cancer for six years.
Born on March 21, 1973 in San Diego, Lewis was later graduated from Howard University in 1995. She then pursued a career in entertainment, later hired to be one of MTV’s VJs in 1997. Several years later, she shared during a discussion with Stephanie Elam and Sara Sidner of CNN in 2024 that she followed medical advice and did not undergo a double mastectomy after her diagnosis of breast cancer. His tumor then metastasized and his cancer progressed in stage 4.
In addition to his sister, Lewis is survived by his son.
